Here is something that I'm sure everyone fights with.
Knowing when to rest. Because I'm self-serving I'm going to
use myself as an example.
I've had a pretty good week - about 13 sessions (mix of
run, bike, swim, lifting, and core-strength) and a full
rest day (zip, nothing) over the last 8 days. My rest day
was 4 days ago.
Last night in the weight room (upper body work out followed
by core strength class) I was weaker than normal, but not
necessarily weaker than expected. My morning "long" run
(only 6 miles - I'm building base to 12 miles) was a bit
faster than normal.
This morning I am "feeling it". Mostly the arms/shoulders -
but really all over. As I type this I've done a quick HR
test - and it seems normal.
So part of me says that this is normal fatigue and getting
out on the bike now with a short evening run will do me
good. The other part of me is fearful of doing too much
while I'm trying to build base.
Any thoughts? Obviously by the time I read them it will be
too late - I will have either shoved the workouts for
tomorrow, or I will have gone ahead with them.... but I'm
curious how you would deal with it.
