I have a challenge in front of me that I'd like to share (aka seek help)
In July, I am going back to UK to spend a week with my girlfriend to celebrate her mother's 80th birthday. This will be spent in a rented manor house and we will be 20 in total. For my sins I am in charge of cooking the evening meals for the week , something I have accepted rather than join in the themed evenings. We will be a mixture of veggies/meat eaters but amongst the carnivores we have non beef eaters (BSE sceptic) and non pork eaters (religion I think) , personally I eat neither fish ( allergy) or fowl (boring).
To add interest, I have no idea how the kithen is equipped !
I guess the starters will all end up Mezze style so that's not a problem. But how can I arrive at 5 or 6 pairs/triples of main dishes that will please the majority ?

Wow - cooking for 20? Big job.
Pasta Marinara comes to mind as does a Pasta Carbonara (put the pancetta on the side) How about a soup & salad buffet with home made croutons. Breakfast for Dinner is always fun. How about several Indian dishes curry should not be a problem.
Go to Helen's new area since the ingredients should be readily available.

Although the airline might freak, consider taking your own knife or two in your checked baggage. Nothin's harder to deal with than dull knives. Or call the house & ask what's there? Have a Mexican nite, with beef or chicken or pork fajitas or tofu for than matter. Can you make sopapillas for dessert? It's sticky but good and plain. Heck, have your own theme nites...Good luck.

I'd take the chicken's way out and do a buffet. That way, you can have something for every taste/life- style/preference.
