  1. Hello,
I am new to this forum and hope to get some input as to which ride would be the best out of my list of choices. I am 6ft, 235lbs, in decent shape overall and an avid MTBer. I have been looking at the following road bikes; Cannondale R1000, Lemond BS & Zurich, Specialized Roubaix, Raleigh Competition, and a few Fuji choices. This is a broad list and I have researched via other forums and did some test riding. Each bike shop pushed their bikes as the one that will suite me best. Just not sure about the "down the road" issues with the bikes. Like how will a CAAD 7 frame hold up two, three years from now compared to the steel or the carbon seat stay setup especially with my type of weight.

I am leaning towards the C-dale just because it is one of the last bike companies that does not manufacture everything under Giant or Trek. But, it does appear the quality is equal and the "bang for your buck" is better with the others when it comes to components.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. a friend of about same wt and height had a c-dale r600 and enjoyed riding it daily until he was lent a giant tcr alu / 105.
that was the end of the c-dale, he sold it and got a tcr.
i don't think he rides any faster just the same!

  3. I'm 6'3" and 225# and been riding for 6 years. I had a Zurich which I just sold. I did a lot of research before my purchase. I recently bought a Giant TCR Comp and just love it. I bought the 0 which comes with Dura Ace and Ksyriums and it an amazing deal. They also have the 1 and 2 of which the 2 is closer to the Zurich. My O in an XL weighed in at 16.7# with pedals which is amazing for a big bike. I was concerned about stiffness but it very still while at the same time being compliant where you want it to be. My Ultegra Zurich was 5 pounds heavier. It was a 1996 model but that is still a hugh difference. I think it's head and shoulders above an aluminum C'dale
