  1. Don't follow the advice of joggers. There are a lot of self-
proclaimed running gurus in this group. They love to advise
you about running from their slow jogging experiences and a
few running magazines they might have read. They'll speak
to you about the difficulty of running a 5:30 second mile
and all kinds of unbelievably slow times that a lot of 10
year old kids could run just from the conditioning of
playing soccer or other sports. They'll tell you that you
can't run more than 30 or 40 miles per week when young 10
year old kids go to sport camps all over America and play
soccer or other sports ALL DAY LONG and cover as much as 15
miles. The only kind of runners these people can be are
extremely inferior physical specimens. Even people who play
weekend basketball and sprint up and down a court cover
more distance than they do. Yet they will tell you point
blank that it can't be done. They will call you a troll and
say your malicious when you tell them it can be done and
that it's done all over America ever day. It's only that
they can't do it because of their physical inferiority and
so they think that no one else can do it either. I hate
seeing people get poor information and they sure get it
    from these losers.

Then why do you keep supplying it?

  3. The only advice I've ever taken from joggers, is when Doug
told me to go "F" myself. As it turns out, I'm a veeeerrry
    giving lover.

  4. You forgot to say that it's because they're all overweight.

So you're bad at math, too. I only count one.

    Quoted message said:

Because, of course, experiences must be invalid, and
magazine articles are all false. So, add logic to the things
    you're bad at.

Define "a lot": a majority, a portion of the population?
Well, you didn't say "any 10 year old" or "all 10 year olds"
and so shot your argument in the foot, because if not all 10
year olds can do it, then why should all adults be able to
run 5:30 pace? The fact that not all children can do it
demonstrates a limiting factor, e.g., genetics, that may in
fact make it difficult for many--if not altogether impossible--
    to perform at that level.

Ah, there's your math difficulty again. Since when does 15 =
    30 or 40? And don't tell me that it's just because they're
kids and can't do that much, because above, you told us 10
year olds could perform at adult level, so that escape hatch
    ain't available to ya.

Really? You can run 30-40 miles per week by playing
basketball on the weekends? You can prove this? Oh... that's
right, you don't do math. Sorry.

And to re-balance the running world you dispense information
    like this:

"The trouble with all you people is that eating is too
important to you all to give up even for running . . . STOP
    EATING, STOP EATING, STOP EATING."

"Your objective should be to reduce body fat to almost
    nothing."

"I am going through my liposuction training and diet phaze
    right now."

I feel so inferior. Anyone who can give up food,
reduce themselves to 2% body fat and undergoes
liposuction to improve their running must be a truly
    superior physical specimen.

    I feel so inferior.

You should! I've shaved every inch of my body and run naked
to reduce wind resistance. On my speedwork days I only eat
cabbage. On my long days I only eat granola. I only carry
water on runs over 24 hours. I run eight days a week, that
last day is for recovery at a slow 5:30 pace.

I have never proclaimed to be a "guru". I know some gurus
    and I am not one.

What I share I have gleaned from reading and talking with a
    lot of people's ideas like:

David Martin Pete Pfitzinger Joe Vigil Jack Daniels Tim
Noakes (although I find him harder to take in recent years)
Arthur Lydiard Alberto Salazar Randy Wilber (he is a
physiologist with the USOC and former coach) Jeff Galloway
    Frank Shorter

Add in the handful of world class athletes that I have
had the privilege to work with, and I think I have a
decent blend of theoretical and practical (they often do
    not overlap)

I offer what I offer out of some bizarre need to share
information. If people do not want to follow it, that is
their choice but I do not belittle people (okay I have done
that a few times in moments of poor taste).

I will stick with the information I provide based on the
writings of the men above and guidelines from organizations
like NSCA and ACSM (the latter of which I am a member). How
about joining and coming to a national meeting and sharing
your ideas on training? I am sure that several of the men in
the list above would like to be educated.

    thank you.

You must be really bored. Quite an elaborate troll, don't
you think? You could have spent a lot less energy, and
gotten a much better response with

    stupid joggers".

Of course, if you actually believe that nonsense you are
spouting, then you're quite a bit dumber than you look or
sound in your writing. I hope you enjoy your future years,
when your legs, hips, and back are going to be pounded into
nothing but arthritis and pain. Good luck, 'cause you're
going to need it. You'll be rolling around the old folks
home in your wheelchair, stoned on painkillers and anti-
inflammatories, having spent your life savings on joint-
replacement surgery, and wondering why you were stupid
enough to abuse your body when you were younger by running
way too many miles, and at too fast a pace. I relish the
day when I'll be playing golf and tennis with my good knees
and back, whilst you complain about being yet again
depressed and in pain and stuck in front of the tv or in
    the bingo hall.

    I sincerely hope you're somebody I know, as I know that I'll
gleefully spend all my golden years reminding you and your
ilk EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN DAY what

You've already put a smile on my face for today.

People like you end up getting what they deserve,
    thank goodness.

Ah, macelroy. Good to have you back old chap. So, have you
entered a race yet? I don't believe we ever managed to find
a verified performance by you the last time you were
trolling round here. So, want to post a link to a race
    you've actually entered?

C'mon, we've only been waiting about 3 years now to actually
verify one of your superior performances.

Awe shucks, he's just trying to remain humble and not
embarrass us portly joggers. He is "da man" and we better
    get used to it.
