  1. My glucose level have been high in 160 and my doctor
suggests me to do more exercise and watch my diet. I have
been eating healthy food every day with low carb and high
fibre. Now my glucose is 135 in the morning. My glucose is
around 135-150 2 hours after dinner. After dinner I don't
eat anything. One thing I found it is very strange that my
glucose is 138 in the morning before breakfast that is
almost 10 hours fasting. Can anyone here help me why my
glocuse level in the morning is higher after meal. I would
appreciate very much for your help.

Two words. Dawn Phenomenon. You should try eating a snack
before bed that contains some carbs and protein. This can
help your liver from dumping glucose. If that doesn't work,
you might need meds, more meds, different meds, etc.

Well, 138 is not particularly higher than 135. You might try
getting up an hour or so earlier and testing immediately
after to see whether the well-known "dawn effect" is
involved. Since the liver can add glucose to the blood at
any time, there is no direct relationship between your last
meal (time and size) and your current bg reading.

    Speaking only for myself,

  4. cc'd by email I assume from your post that you are not on
    meds

You should get a new doctor at the readings you have, you
should be taking some medicine. AACE guidelines are 110,
not 135. It is not always possible, but a doctor who
doesn't trymore agressivly is an active menace to his or
    her pattients

  5. Hi Everyone! I was just wondering if you could tell me if
you know what a 135,75, 115, etc. is in Canada in regards to
reading blood sugars. My doctors tell me I should be between
"4.0 and 8.0 and feeling great!" 8.0+ is high, 4.0- is low.
I eat anytime I am lower than 4.0 and take insulin if my
blood is above 11.0 Anyone that could give me a response, I
would greatly appreciate it! Have a wonderful day, Carmen

  7. I'm a newly diagnosed T2, 31 yrs old, family history of T2.
I thought of taking my 2hrs after meal reading and I got
    291! I rushed to my doctor, A1C read 6.8, FBG 128. He
advised me to try diet and exercise first. I changed my diet
and started to excercise. Current readings A1C=6%, FBG is
111, so I wasn't given any medications for diabetes. LDL is
    140, HDL 54, Total Cholesterol 200, Triglycerides 82. He
said LDL should be < 100 for diabetics. He gave me 10mg of
Lipitor once a day. Do all of you agree?

    Hi Pinky

I thought you might get a better response with your own
    thread :-)

On a quick scan of those figures you appear to have done
some pretty good work so far.

Your doc is probably right about the LDL, but it's certainly
easier said than done. Keep doing what you're doing and
it'll probably improve. Balancing that, your HDL and trigs
aren't bad at all for a newby; but then of course you're
    only a youngster :-)

If you want to fine-tune your diet to improve those BGs even
    further, go to alt-support-alt-support-
    diabetes.org/Newly%20Diagnosed.htm and read Jennifer's
advice on testing properly there. I think you'll find it
    very useful.

And welcome to the group. I know you didn't want to be here,
but I think you'll eventually realise you've come to the
    right place.

    Cheers Alan, T2, Australia.

  9. I am not a medical professional, just a fellow Type 2. I
have heard that LDL should be <100 for diabetic and I am
on Zocor for the same reason you are on Lipitor. It
appears that your diet and exercise are working. I agree
that there is no need to medicate a diabetic with A1c of
    6% ad FBG of 111.

    Hi Carmen,

Sorry, I'm a little late to the question.

There is an an online converter @
    onlineconversion.comblood sugar.htm. You can use
it to convert from mmol/l to ml/dg and the reverse.

    Hope this helps!
    :-)
