  1. Can anyone tell me some of the differences and
considerations between a light weight training shoe and a
    racing flat? Thanks

Lightweight trainers are basically the same as regular
trainers, but made to be lighter. There are varying levels
of lightweight trainers, from regular trainers given that
label simply to make the buyer feel 'faster', to shoes with
some of the fat cut away in order to take the ounces off
while remaining more or less the same shoe as the trainer,
construction-wise. What I'm trying to say is that there's
not really much difference between trainers and lightweight
trainers other than a weight difference... hence the name.

Flats are clearly different, they have no support, they
have low heels, very light, flimsy construction, and
obviously don't last very long. You would never mistake
    them for trainers.

    cheers,
