If it's english thread,they can often be rethreaded to the slightly bigger Italian thread. There are or were BB that did not require threading,but did require special BB preparation.Check with Sheldon Brown at www.harriscyclery.com

your right they have to be chamford(sp)
i saw one at a lbs some time back
i dont know of anyone making them
the one i saw was from mavic
