  1. Hi Here's a response I got from the NorWalk sellers.

Anth, it sounds to me that you have the numbers - at least
the death. I don't know his birth date. His age has really
been shrouded in mystery. I thought he was 109 years old. I
have heard others talk about 115 and older. But it seems
from your research that maybe he was ONLY 99. That makes me
a bit disappointed, but it is still good. I think you did
good investigative work; I commend you for that. I myself
would like to know his true age. I never knew Dr. Walker
personally but admire his work and follow his diet pretty
closely (almost all raw). Personal experience is important.
He is definitely a legend. Thanks for everything, and good
health to you. <name snipped to protect privacy>

Kudos to all who did the research on this, still no cigar
    *yet* Working on it Anth

  2. Cigars aren't good for you, Anth.

Haven't heard from the Ellis Island Archives yet; my email
went out Sat. morning. They probably get a lot of inqueries.

The other thing, of course, is that we really don't REALLY
know the state of Dr. Walker's health in his last years...it
might not have been all that "Vibrant".

Little longevity tidbit in today's national obits though.
"Eva Fridell, of Sequim, Wash., who became the oldest person
in Washington State while shunning exercise and milk in
favor of sweets, Irish coffee and an occasional beer, died
Saturday at her home---two months shy of her 111th birthday.
As a child Mrs. Fridell spent eight years in an orphanage
while her mother went to the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska."

    Say Anth,

Did you bother to check out my source of information?

Walker's personal friend and publisher revealed that he had
a photograph of himself and Walker. On the back of that
document was written the names of those in the photograph
    and their BIRTH DATES.

Based upon that information, Dr. Walker was 118 years and 4
months old when he died a NATURAL death.

I think you are wasting your time and ours trying to prove
    otherwise.

  5. I didn't check your information sorry. Can you post it
again? The best evidence is from Kathy so far, but again
only assumptions. I want to see a scan of his birth cert -
    that would settle it. Anth

  6. If I can find Dr Walkers birth place, check with the
government register in the UK - which incidentally is more
credible that a date on the back of a photograph or the spin
from a biographer - and crosscheck with the US government,
come out with one person that fits both criteria, then I
have my man. How would you say I was wasting my time? The
best I have so far is Kathy's point *I think*, which I think
is something good to go on. Some say he's 118 (which would
make him the oldest man on record in the world) some say
he's 109, and the information in here says he was 99. (All
of which are all assumptions) Anth

  7. (and incidentally the main Norwalk company isn't replying to
my emails) Does anyone here want to enquire about a juicer
and see if they are answering emails? Anth

  8. Yep I can only imagine what effect it would have on
sales. They don't seem to parrot this information on
    their site.. Anth

And, of course, the "publisher" wouldn't have any vested
    interest in book sales.

If he died at 118 years, 4 months, he'd BE in The Guiness
Book of Records, no question. Can you imagine what a coup
that would be for juicer sales?

New wrinkle, & if correct, it looks like Dr. Walker, the
inventor of the Walker Juicer, didn't even make it to his
100th birthday. Not 130 years (as claimed on a colon
cleasing site); not 118 years, 3 months as claimed by our
own "Dr" C; not 118 years as claimed by Jay The Juice Man,
nor even 109 years as claimed by his own company.

The US Social Security Death Index lists a "Norman
Walker", born Jan. 4, 1886 (which would have made him less
than 3 months shy of age 25 in October of 1910, the age of
the "Norman W. Walker" arriving at Ellis Island from
England),, and also his death as June of 1985, which is
the same year in which "Dr." C says Dr. Walker died Also,
the SS's Norman Walker's residence at death was shown as
Cottonwood, Arizona, which is also the home state of the
Walker Juicer Company, & Arizona was also the state where
Dr. Walker had a farm where he raised fruits & vegetables
according to another internet site. Might this just be a
    coincidence?

So Norman Walker, late of Cottonwood, AZ,, died at 99
years, 6 months. I thought you'd want to know.

Interesting. Here is the source for my info. Born: Jan. 28,
    1867 Died: June, 6, 1985 That makes him 118years 4 months
and not three months I stated.

    I found this website............INTERESTING!
    "hacres.comtip83.html" Scroll to the
bottom. Jan A TRIBUTE TO DR. NORMAN W. WALKER For the
remainder of this Health Tip I would like to share some
information sent to me this week regarding
Dr. N. W. Walker. It is in the form of a tribute to Dr.
Walker, delivered at his passing by his publisher,
Donald Woodside. I trust this new information will be as
much of a blessing to you as it has been to me. For the
thousands of readers who have joined us during these
past few months, let me give a little background
regarding Dr. Walker, and then I will share the new
    information. The following background information
appeared in Health Tip #77: "This week I would like to
introduce you to Dr. N. W. Walker, D.Sc. Dr. Walker was
born January 28, 1867, and I have been told he died in
December 1985. Dr. Walker began his journey into
nutrition in his early 50s after he became very ill. "At
the suggestion of Dr. H. William Baum, a chiropractor in
New York City, Dr. Walker rejected the medical route,
turned his back on the Sad American Diet of his day, and
changed to a raw vegetarian diet. Not only did he
recover from all of his physical problems, but he went
on to live to the ripe old age of almost 120. "Dr.
Walker was the 'inventor' of carrot juice and became a
prolific writer. His books have had a profound effect on
my life." I asked several weeks ago if anyone could
confirm the date of his death so that we could once and
for all determine how old he was at the time of his
passing. Using the information I received, I have been
able to determine the exact age of Dr. Walker. I have
had in my possession for many years a personally
autographed photo of Dr. Walker and Dr. Baum. On the
back of this photo is the natal (birth) date of each of
these men, and it reads in part: "Dr. Norman W. Walker,
Natal Day - January 28, 1867." In a portion of his
tribute to Dr. Walker, Mr. Woodside states: "Dr. N. W.
    Walker . . . departed from his physical body . . . June
6, 1985." With his birthdate and date of death
confirmed, we now know that Dr. Walker died at the ripe
old age of 118 years and 4 months. Now for some excerpts
from this tribute: "Dr. Norman W. Walker, famous author
and pioneer in the field of nutrition and health,
particularly in the use of FRESH RAW VEGETABLE JUICES,
departed from his physical body, limited to time and
space, at his home in Cottonwood, Arizona, the evening
of June 6, 1985. "He was not ill - he had no disease in
his body, he never suffered any pain, and his mind was
clear and active to the very end. He simply went
peacefully to sleep and did not awaken. "He had outlived
all of the members of his family. He is survived only by
his wife Ruth, who has worked with him tirelessly in
complete dedication to all of his principles of
healthful living. "While he traveled extensively from
coast to coast, lecturing and holding classes with the
goal of educating people, she stayed at home and took
care of business. Together, their lives have been
dedicated to helping people. "Dr. Walker was a very
colorful personality - his versatility knew no bounds.
He lived a long, active life, always inspiring and
creating enthusiasm in the minds of those who read and
studied his many publications. "His enthusiasm was
endless and everyone who knew him loved him. He could
always see something in every person that he could
honestly praise. He was a living example of what he
preached - he belonged to 'THE NOW GENERATION.' "Dr.
Walker was a Christian - but his teachings were for all
people, regardless of color, race, or creed. He was an
independent researcher, ever learning, searching for
truth in every area. He passed on to his readers and
students what he had satisfactorily proved to himself to
be true. "His work was finished, he had achieved his
goal, and he lived to see the present generation
adopting his principles - practicing and teaching them
to the world, which pleased him very much. He has left a
rich heritage to future generations." Dr. Walker has
been one of my HEALTH HEROES for over 20 years. If you
have not read any of his books, I would encourage you to
start reading them. If you enjoyed what I just shared,
maybe we can publish more of this tribute to Dr. Walker
    in a future issue.

research the matter, and watching Chalupa Chuck desperately
cling to his one piece of flimsy evidence.
