They do, a synthetic coolmax pad in one piece. (I bought a
pair by mistake (in the heap of jerseys and I didn't read
the packet).

The sizes are a bit variable. The MTB shorts are a good bit
smaller than the ordinary shorts (which have thin lycra but
do have a coolmax padding and scotchlite strips in which is
a good deal for 7 quid.)

I remember when I was cycling round Mallorca a couple of
years ago, all the local ladies stared with intense interest
at cyclists in tight lycra shorts, making no attempt to
disguise the direction of their gaze. It was good to find
that ogling is gender-indeterminate.

50-60 miles with briefs/boxers underneath cycling shorts.

The only time I've worn out the skin on my backside was during an unplanned fall when cycling in the French Alps - had to ride back to base with my red-raw [censored] hanging out of my shorts - not a pretty sight for the poor French motorists I bet.

As for "going Commando" - it's the only way to go. Wearing another layer under your cycling shorts seems to be inviting a heat rash. A thin layer of lycra between you an "total exposure" is always best - just make sure you never buy white lycra shorts and then get caught in a rain shower :eek:
