  1. can someone who owns a Powertap tell me what the 'Power-Tap Link' is?

I have purchased this wheel: http://www.bontrager.com/roadwheels/detail.asp?id=167&pt=10

As you will notice in bullet point 3 it says 'Hardware for Power-Tap and training video included; Power-Tap link sold separately'

Not quiet sure what this means. I have mailed Bontrager yesterday and hope to get a response today, however, I'm impatient and can't wait for the states to open!

    Cheers.

the Link is the download kit and software, so that it can be downloaded to your PC

  3. Tom,

Obviously you need the download cradle for downloading; the "Link" software is awful. I'd suggest getting CyclingPeaks:

    http://www.cyclingpeakssoftware.com/

    It's well worth the $75.

P.S. I'm just a satisfied customer with no affiliation to CPeaks.

  4. yes, the software is not very good. but it gets the job done for me.

analyzing power data is really helpful in tracking improvements. since the conditions and terrain of my rides are always different, average speed is no way to track small improvements.

a 20watt LT increase in 4 weeks is some very good motivation, and i am glad to see my training is working.

i also have seen that i can do considerably more watts in racing situations than i could training by myself. i wouldn't see a difference without the power meter.

Any comments or experience with the wheel yet Tom? I'm thinking of buying one too. Where did you purchase it from? I'm looking for stockists.

  6. TTer -

I brought mine in the States. The one I have is an OEM version from Bontrager - it's mounted on a Bontrager wheel.

Mine is a PT Pro. I am very pleased with it, however, I am not so pleased with my wattage figure but then I think that is down to me not feeling so great within myself - seem to be loosing a lot of fitness recently even though still training equal amount of time. It's not over-training either - I have none of those symptoms.

I would recommed the PT. Right now I am in the states and called Cycling Ops for Technical support and was attended to immediately with answers to all my questions.

PT computer is nice and small. Highly recommended.

    Tom.
