  1. Ok, i need to know what times youngsters are doing over 500 mtrs (under 15). I have a couple of riders that I think are sharp, want to get a feel for just how sharpe they are. Times im interested are set on U15 gears (75" or 6mtr roll out) if you could tell me the sort of track would help too

    cheers

These results will give you a broad impression of U/15 boys' times on a fast indoor velodrome (2000 Olympic track).

36 seconds on a 75" gear would calculate to an average cadence of about 140 from a standing start. Factoring in the standing start would calculate to a peak cadence of about 160-170.

  5. Thank you, very helpful.

If you know where to be it only takes you 20 minutes.

Don't forget the 34 is from a 16 year old. Though got his ass kicked regularly by one specific other kid. The kid was a trackie later tried road but went back to the first love. Worked on endurance and became a top u 23 madison rider(european cup example 1 hour madison lapping the field once and taking first place in every sprint). In the Six days off gent this year he won the flying lap on every day winning the flying 500 on every second day with only gerd dorich as leadout(certainly not the fastest). I've beaten him on the road in a clean sprint on the track neber been close(won once with a long 450m break)

The velodrome is almost at sea level(important to compare times)

Almost al of the 12-14 year olds had no or very little track experience.
