I live in Connecticut. I'm thinking of doing the Five-
Borough bike ride in NY this year, bringing my Bike-Friday
folder. Since using public transportation the morning of
the ride seems to be impractical, I'm considering two ways
to get there; I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who's
tried either.
I could just drive in the morning of the ride, but it seems
that parking is likely to be a nightmare. Haven't found any
info on parking on the Bike NY web page, but maybe I'm just
blind. Anyone done this in past years? Were you able to get
within a reasonable (riding or walking) distance of the
starting point?
Or, I might come up the night before by bus (that's the
advantage of having a folder), stay at the AYH lodgings
they're providing, take the subway to Battery Park in the
morning, and back to the Port Authority terminal after the
ride. Anyone know what this hostel is like? Fleabag in a bad
neighborhood? Adequate in a good neighborhood?

Thanks :-)
