The results are finally in - guess the Dr. wasn't overly excited since he sent them via snail mail instead of through the phone lines. <G>
The tests were run on a spur of the moment, no advance warning so no true fasting period. Dr. did ask me what I had to eat in the morning ... fruit and coffee ... guess he figured it was good enough to not throw the results off too badly.
Total Cholesterol: 169 (general goal under 200) HDL (good chol): 54 (between 40 and 55) LDL (bad chol): 106 (less than 130)
Another way to factor cholesterol results is to divide total cholesterol by the HDL cholesterol ... the result should be under 4.5 .. mine was 3.13.
So I guess, everything is looking good. I did get a chuckle though. In the paperwork he sent out he wrote that all my levels were in the desirable category, then under recommendations the nurse put in *aerobic exercise 5 times per week for 40 minutes*, and *follow a fat, low cholesterol diet*. Just how low do I need to go? LOL!
Except for the recommendations to do what you're already doing masterfully, your doc's report and lab results are excellent. If the saying "healthy as a horse" has any meaning, I wonder if it's possible to be healthier than a horse. If so, that would be YOU!

Good test results. I'll be insterested in hearing how you can *add* aerobic exercise 5 times a week to your current program. LOL.
HAHAHA! I never thought about adding it to my existing program ... that would be pretty dang tough and I would be one tired puppy. <G> I did think it funny because I swear everything I've read recently suggests 30 minutes of aerobics 3 to 4 times a week. So figured 40 minutes 5 times a week would be suggested to someone whom they wished to lose weight or use the exercise to get cholesterol levels in control. Goes to show just how little I know.
I think if the Doc does call (he usually does, just much further down the road) I will ask him who the wise guy was that filled out the form ... how much lower in fat and cholesterol does he really think I can cook ... and should the recommended exercise routine be added to my existing routine. He has a fantastic sense of humor.
Thanks Linda, I really did feel great when the results came in. I was going to dig for last years results to compare, but recall the total cholesterol being within a point or two so didn't bother. Not sure if I'm healthy as, or healthier than a horse ... but I still feel pretty danged good! <g>

LOL! That would be my fingers over editing my typing mistakes. <G> Low fat, low cholesterol is what it should have read. I swear I read that sentence multiple times, knowing something was wrong but never did figure out what. LOL
