  1. I just got my first pair of cycling shorts, and well i have
    a few questions/concerns.

    1) how often should it get cleaned? after every use? or less

    2) Is there an easy way to clean them?

    3) I sweat alot in the summer, expecialy in the groin area.
Will they keep me cool, or will i sweat more? Is there
any deoderant that will at least prevent it form
    smelling a lot?

    4) any other suggestions?

    Every use will be fine.

    Machine wash. Air dry.

Slacker, you're just evil! Funny, but evil. Michael, don't
listen to a word Slacker says. He's a known jokester here
in AM-B. Everyone knows it's an absolute waste of money to
use extra virgin olive oil on you shorts. Don't believe
the hype. Leave the EVOO for the kitchen. The cheap stuff
is just fine for the chamois, Hell I've even used canola
    in a pinch.

Do wash them every use, don't put them in a dryer. Don't dry
any synthetics...let 'em all air dry. Don't worry about
sweat/funk - that's what outdoor clothing is for. Matter of
fact, one of my favorite things to do after a ride is wring
out my soaked shorts just a bit too close to my buddies'
feet. Splashback from that is a [censored].

None of this is relevant - ride commando and wash the seat
    post ride.

note... some synthetic chamois do not need chamois butter or
anything else. I thought you'd only use it on true leather
chamois anyway. If you get a good wicking short, I would not
worry about sweat or stink... I mean, is your sweat toxic or
something? You won't be the only one sweating or stinking on
    your ride.

If you wash them after every ride and air dry, they
    should be OK...

but if they do get stinky, put some baking soda in
    with the wash.

if all else fails, then pinesol works... but it can smell
as well. I use pinesol every few months on the knee and
    elbow pads.

Hell, why bother with a seat at all - just grease up the

    stinky bike gear recipe:

Try this. Soak in "Biz" overnight, at least 12 hours. this
is an enzyme based presoak that goes after organic matter,
not your regular presoak. Then, rinse that out and then run
through the wash with a laundry product called Oxyclean,
which is not an detergent it's an additive. You should be
able to get that at any supermarket.

    originally.

Or use a seat and wash it, I don't want to have anything to
do with needing to wash the seat post.
