I've tried them. Worked for me. Fairly comfortable,
definitely stopped the wind and the blinding sun. Well worth
£4.

Not used the tchibo ones but glasses do stop the wind and
sun. For serious wind/hail/snow I use ski goggles (bu tthen
again the right conditions to need those are rare in UK)

Glasses are also good at stopping flies, gravel etc. Having
had to clean flies off them and had a few bits of gravel
bounce off them at 40+mph I am definitely a fan of eye
protection (not that I would make it mandatory though)

Many thanks for all replies - they've been a bit of an eye-
opener! It seems that these basic cycling specs are just
cheap industrial protective glasses. I wonder who buys those
advertised at prices form £50 to £90?

I've ordered a couple of pairs from Screwfix to give them a
bit of a test and hopefully I'll soon be looking a bit less
bleary-eyed.

Thanks also to Simon Mason for your kind offer of a free
pair. I might yet take you up on your offer as Screwfix only
sell clear glass versions in the cheap version.

They are Uvex Skyper and those are the lens shades not the
frames . He can't have wanted any as I haven't hear from
