  1. Why are carrots only pointless until they are cooked?

If they are cooked/steamed and served without butter etc do
they not still retain the Pointless status.

    They do in the UK.

  3. Raw carrots are 0 points. Plain cooked carrots are 1
    point per cup.

  4. Cooking probably breaks down fiber or liberates additional
sugars in the carrots. They are still not very many points.

  5. to me cooked carrots are pointless because I do not eat them, our leader
said she figured that the sugar became more concentrated or something during
the cooking process. I would question this but I can eat fresh strawberries
but am allergic to frozen ones so who knows, Lee, who will never have to
    count them

  6. My guess (and I do mean guess) is that cooking might bring
the sweetness out of the carot and the body digests it in a
    different manner.

  7. Regardless of the points - I love cooked carrots & don't
mind using the points for them. Cooked onions are the same -
they're points when cooked - brings out the sugar according
to the WW leader where I went to WW meetings.

Verrrrry odd: onions are also pointless when cooked here

Know what? I didn't much care what ww said, and both carrots
and onions remained pointless in my US home. I managed to
lose the weight ok, too. <G> I used that old *I didn't get
fat eating onions and carrots* logic.

Tonight's low point dinner: pasta with bacon sacue

    100g bacon, chopped - 6 oints 1 lg onion
1/2 a green pepper (coz that's all I have left in the
fridge! I'd add more if I had more.) some mushrooms
a clove of garlic some mixed herbs for flavour a tin
    of tomatoes

Fry the bacon in a non stick pan. Add the chopped veggies
and let them fry a bit. Throw in some herbs and the tin of
tomatoes. Allow to cook down a bit while the pasta cooks...

Devide into 3: pasta, 3 points per serving, sauce 2
points per serving. Muller Lite yoghurt for dessert, and
that's dinner for 6.5 points! AND at least 2 servings of
    veggies there!

No carrots, but I sometimes bulk this sort of thing up a bit
    with grated carrot.

  13. On a related topic, I've also read that carrots are one of
the few vegetables that is more nurtitious when cooked.
Apparently carrots have a very tough cellular wall, which
your body can't digest when it's raw. Maybe this has
    something to do with it?

I never really count carrots, I consider them healthy
anyhow. I add a lot of them to the WW veggie burgers,
add extra to soups, etc. I recently bought a crinkle
cutting kitchen tool, and keep telling my husband to
just imagine he's eating crinkle cut french fries that
    happen to be orange...
