Well I finished the L.A. Marathon last Sunday. The run went well out to about mile 12. After that I started gradually losing ground due to the heat. I don't handle the heat very well so I just made sure to drink plenty and keep to shady spots as much as possible. The annoying thing was that at or around mile 18 I started to blister on the bottoms of both feet. (the ball area). All throughout training I never even felt the hint of blisters. Our longest training run was 20 miles and even at that distance I didn't suffer any blistering. What could I have done to prevent it?

This was probably from the extra sweat that was dripping into your shoes. Before the start, a small amount of vaseline on your feet may have helped.
