  1. I have a 2003 Specialized Sequoia Elite that I am looking to
put new tires on. I weigh about 180 (hope to get down to
160!) and I will be taking this bike on a week long 500 mile
charity ride. I ride about 1500-2000 miles annually. I'd
appreciate a recommendation on a tire brand/size that will
give me the best handling, especially in descents. Speed is
not a concern. Control and comfort are of more importance to
me. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Last year I
used the tires which came with the bike which were
Specialized 700X26. They were fine, but I'd appreciate
thoughts as to what might be better.

I've used two different tires with good success on multi-day
rides. Continental GP-3000 in 700x25, inflated to 95~105
psi, and on another bike Vittoria Open Corsa EVP CX,
inflated to the same pressures as the Contis. Both tires
gave excellent grip, a very good ride and were very stable
on descents. The Contis lasted longer mileage-wise but the
Vittorias felt slightly better. You pays your money and
    makes your choices.

  3. I weigh more than you and have great results with Michelin
Axial Pro which are marketed as 25, but measure 28 on my
Velocity rim. These tires last for me well, and I use light
    weight tubes.

  4. My main priorities are comfort and handling, especially in
descents, I'm not as concerned with long life of the tire.
How did you find those tires regarding handling and comfort?
