Strange problem

Hi Alan: I'm no doctor, but my wife has just been diagnosed with shingles. The doctor subscribed
alleve. From what I've read, shingles comes from a virus that lives in the nerves. Some things like
stress and cancer can cause the virus to 'wake-up' and travel to the nerve tips. The doctor said
it's usually on one side of the body. If you've ever had chicken-pox, then you probably have the
virus that can cause shingles. This might be the only time you will ever have shingles. Once you've
had Chicken-Pox, apparently you can't catch Shingles from someone else, like Chicken-Pox, but you
can catch it yourself. Something like that. I've read it's uncurable and after the swollen redness
and blisters pop and ooze, it's over. Maybe that's an extreme case, I hope. Treatment just eases the

water, especially after a bowel movement.

Nearly 3 days later, with no relief in sight, saw another doctor at the walk-in clinic, who after
the examination, said "Try this", another antibiotic. I happened to mention the puffed up skin on
the left buttock and he then withdrew the prescription and said that I have shingles.

Now I don't know what to believe. Didn't he see the puffed up skin in the examination? It's not
really swollen, just irregular compared to the right buttock. I'll try to see my family doctor
tomorrow. Anyone? Ideas?
