<rolls eyes> You are the second person now that i've run across that thinks that that "white stringy
thing" has something to do with the rooster... <lol>
First of all, grocery store eggs are not fertile. The hens are kept in large cages with no roosters
with a sloping floor so the eggs roll to the front. That is the way they live their lives.
Second, that stringy thing is called the "chalazae" and is nothing more than a twisted rope of egg
white protien. There is one on either side of the yolk and they help to keep the yolk centered in
the egg during initial incubation. It dissolves and goes away as an egg ages.

Iirc, that's the thing that holds the yolk in place. Although I tend to pick it out of eggs before
cooking them, too. (that and the little blobby red bit)
