  1. Hi, When I was a kid, several kids from my school , within the same year, were killed on roads as they were cycling, so my parents never wanted me to ride. I'm now in my late 20's and i've learnt to ride a bike! All by myself.

    Sometimes, I fall off in the most ridiculous situations whilst in traffic - when people look at me, i always tend to put the blame on the car that just passed me by... does that work? Has anyone else tried that??

    Welcome to the fold, better late than never I say. Now puting the blame on other cars, specifically those that have just past you is actually rather entertaining. However if I was driving along and saw you fall I would stop and ask you what happened, if you say it was the other cars fault, then I might just be tempted to chase them down and inform them of the pending laws of the road. So, be careful what you say, but other than that have fun and keep rubber side down.

  3. Very wise advise mate.. However, sometimes IT IS THEIR FAULT. I guess if i were more advanced, i'd have coped.. but u get these drivers who just want to zoom past u whilst excrutiatingly close to you, or actually find it amusing to horn at you if u r going slow.

    Yes.. it is entertaining at the end of the day... people are always MORE sympathetic towards cyclists than towards motorists (that's why i carry a spare bicycle in the boot of my car!!).

    Ha! That's funny!! 🙂 Good to keep that in mind! 😉

  5. I really have to admit, cylcing makes me feel good. I did it because i always wanted to learn, and i just got up, bought a bike, and taught myself. ALL ALONE! 😉

    anyway - i used to hate cyclists before - they had so many advantages - but now, as an avid cyclist, i feel we should be demanding more laws in our favour. For example, if there arent ANY cycling lanes on a road, we SHOULD be allowed to cycle on a pavement!?? For goodness sake, its a bike, not a ferrari?!!

    Also, taxi's and minicabs etc should NOT be allowed to use bus lanes - buses arent frequent and that's what makes it possible to use the bus lane as a cycle lane. If other cars start using the bus lane, then what effect does the bus lane have for cyclists?? its no different than cycling on the main road?

    Also, can cyclists that have JUST learnt to ride a bike get an L-Plate?

  6. Cycling is fantastic, the freedom, the sensation of speed and the feeling of accomplishment after a good ride. Hard to beat !!!
    I was told when I started riding that there is only 2 types of riders;
    1. Those that have fallen
    2. Those that will fall.

    I was cylcing in paris last night... it was freezing, but i was LOVING it!!! Its a great thing to do. I have no time for gym as i finish work late, so that replaces my aerobics session. I just need require de-toxification therapy from all the car fumes and stress management to cope with the French driving. Other than that, its fun!!
