  1. I think the subject of momovelo came up back in November, but I thought I'd ask if anyone has had
any contact whatever with them over the holidays.

I placed a mail order with them via their web site back on the 15th of December. The items I ordered
never arrived. They do not respond to e-mail, nor do they answer their phone...............it only
goes to Voice Mail and the mailbox is full.

What is disturbing is that they billed my credit card for the full amount of my purchase on the same
day I placed my order (15 December. Not only didn't they ever ship my items, a check on their web
page to try and track my order status now lists it as cancelled.

If I don't hear from them in reply to one of my several e-mails within the next day or so, I'll be
reporting this as a fraudulent charge to my credit card company and to the Berkley, CA Better
Business Bureau. No reputable mail order company (in my past experience) bills a customer till the
    items ordered are actually shipped.

This is a real shame. Momovelo seems like a cool shop and they offerred a nice selection of unique
items. I hope my experience turns out OK and that perhaps they just experienced a holiday crush of
orders they could not keep up with.

Have you tried contacting them through their Yahoo store front?

    store.yahoo.commomovelo

    Best of Luck,

  3. Thanks for the additional web address, Bob. I'll keep it on hand.

However, yesterday, I finally heard from momovelo via e-mail and was told that, since the items I'd
ordered were out of stock or otherwise unavailable, my credit card would be credited for the full
amount that they had charged to it back on the 15th of December.

While I was disappointed at the length of time it took to get an answer, it seems as if momovelo was
caught with an abundance of holiday orders, combined with low (or no) inventory of many items
advertised on their site. This lead to their inability to fill and ship orders.

I'd try ordering from them in future, since they do offer a lot of unique stuff, both accessories
and bicycles. But I'd definitely confirm that the itemns I want are in stock and ready to ship
    before actually placing an order.

    Regards,

    Jim

  5. Hi Seamus,
the same seems to be happening to me, so it wasn't just a holiday bottleneck problem -
and in fact, similar problems with momovelo were registered on various forums last year...
so how did your experience turn out?

  6. Hello,

I live in Berkeley and spent an hour speaking in person with Kai, the owner, two days ago. I can't
speak to your purchasing experience, but he is real and a real nice guy. He seems a bit overwhelmed
at this time, just getting over an illness. But he does not seem to be the rip off kind of guy.

I suggest you email him and find out again what's up. He always responds to my email. Eddie

The problem with momovelo is not that the owner is not a nice guy, which he may be, but if you order
something, he charges your credit card and then either doesn't ship or respond. This is not right.

If momovelo can't provide the product or at least a response within a timely fashion, he has no
right to charge your credit card. This behavior is strange and smells like a *rip off*....

  8. Hello mkenner,
So what's become of your order? Seamus seems to have got his money back and no hard feelings (after threatening to report a fraud), whereas you seem to have had no reply as yet, but no charges either... well, my credit card was debited for 1250% 7 weeks ago, and nothing has been heard ... and these are just a few of the instances reported here in this forum, with more of the same in similar places like the birdygroup... has nobody ever gone further than just moaning like we do now, and shouldn't we?

  9. Hi Bfd,
your advice would be sound if e-mails and even phone calls weren't systematically ignored except if you're in the Bay area anyway and so can drop by. If you do visit the undoubtedly cool Mr Matsuda again, please ask him why he behaves so uncool to the rest of us. As regards excuses for delayed responses, I've heard a dozen of them from him, but it never changed even when he was back from Japan, or recovered from the illness, or when the fresh supplies were supposed to have arrived, or the valid credit card was charged after all, etc. And if it was all a bit too much, or certain things no longer viable, then why does he still offer them online the same as ever, accepting new orders even while sitting on the unfulfilled older ones?
I'm running out of patience with such a nice non-rip-off behavior
