Tyre Choices

As I regularly commute in it on bikes/cycle trail with a very short stretch of mud path (40 yards
or so), I am considering replacing my tyres with more "urban" ones.

- Give a good fast ride on tarmac (dry & wet) and any reasonably smooth/firm/dry surface.

They won't be very good for the mud path when it's soft but you'll survive 40 yards with a bit
of skill :-)

That type will be better than MTB knobblies.

700c tyres won't fit your wheels.

For YEARS I've used Specialized Fatboys as road MTB tyres.

They are fantastic. Very durable, seldom puncture and really fast. And good grip, wet or dry. Proof
that you do not need a pattern.

I've had a set of these on my Kona for over a year now. They got me through a real downpour on
Saturday with no problems. Highly recommended!

I prefer to get it from Evans Cycles as there is a branch near by, and
thinking about getting it done along side a servicing:-)

Just realised however, that there are not that many 26" tyres! In fact on Evans's and wiggles.co.uk
I don't seem to see any 26" Hybrid tyres?

My questions are
1) How much better are hybrid tyres compared with my MTB tyres
2) How much worse would hybrid tyres be compared with road tyres?

3) Out of the road tyres at
evanscycles.comdept.jspOpen ↗ , which would be
recommeded for the best compromise between quick ride on road and easy/safe ride on my 40 yards
of mud paths

Definitely change to slicks for on-road commuting and be careful for the 40 yards off-road. Makes a
huge difference. I've currently got schwalbe city jet (26x1.5) on my bike but am thinking of trying
Vredstein S-licks (26x1.3) when they wear out.

don't get too hung up on what are essentially marketing terms. By Hybrid Tyres a lot of sites will
mean "tyres for the class of bike often described as Hybrid" ie a 700c wheeled flat barred road or
light trail oriented bike

What you want will often be classed as MTB tyres
