  1. There is the oft-mentioned Shimano LX rear hub from the mid-90's that had more than 18 engagement
    points; I forget exactly how many. I believe there was something about it being quiet, too.

    There is a Shimano LX Silent with a Vuelta Airline rim available at cambriabike's Final
    Clearance section.

    Any relation?

    Jim uses a Shimano LX Silent Clutch hub on his stock trials bike and running 8 speed in the back
    with a RynoLite rim. Its perfect for the job.
