Creatine taxes the kidneys heavily. Normally the kidneys can process it to remove it from the blood,
but when suffering kidney damage, like nephropathy, it won't be removed sufficiently. So it could
indicate kidney damage.

I have had the problem of a high level, following a massive infection of my left kidney. This was
last December. I went off of salt, and followed my normal diabetic diet. In 3 weeks I lost an
enormous amount of weight, which was water retained by the ill kidney. Last week they gave me
another test, to see if I could qualify for a study in the Cleveland Clinic. My creatinine was
normal, and I did not qualify. If you have a high level, one of the best pieces of advice I can
offer, is to religiously check the amount of sodium in the food you will prepare, and keep it to a
minimum. Also, there are herb and spice substitutes for sodium, which keeps the food tasty. My
kidney is okay now, and I continue to monitor my sodium intake.

I take a water pill. Demedex. It causes a false high creatine reading.

What do you call high? A normal reading should be about 1.0 in the USA, or 88 in the rest of the
world. A reading of 1.5 or 2.0 USA (130 to 175 elsewhere) indicates stress on the kidneys of some
sort, either illness or as in your case, dehydration. Anything over that, you had better be under a
nephrologist's care. They start preparing you for dialysis by
5. (440). Let me tell you, you will be sicker than a dog if you hit the high end like I did: 15.0
USA or 1350 metric.

Increased creatinine is the quick indicator of possible rejection for those of us with kidney
transplants. (Mine post transplant bounces between 110 and 125, or 1.2 to 1.4). If all of the other
blood tests for kidney function such as B.U.N. (blood urea nitrogen), protein, etc., are reasonable,
the first question they ask is: have you been drinking enough fluids? Usually the problem clears up
when the tests are repeated simply by drinking enough fluids. I was just surprised that Demedex
(torsemide) would make that much of a difference to show up in the labs. How much are you taking?

My wife's, Davida(T1), creatinine was reading was 99 but her albumin was undectable. My Creatinine
was to low but my albumin was 20?

Frank, you've be a diverse Frank if you shoved a Rotax in a Mini 500 and it's not he fault of the
engine either.

In the Mini's they tend to cold seize and spread the occupant across a small but messy area.
