  1. I am a Weight Watchers Leader and am always looking for new ideas for my members. This week our
topic is dining out. Can anyone give any ideas? How do you handle dining out and still stay at point
target, this is besides using the Flex Points. What pointers can you share that I can share with my
members. I need new ideas. Can you answer asap. I have a meeting tomorrow and Saturday morning.
    Thanks so much, Cynthia

  2. Cynthia, I find my best bet is to plan ahead!! I pick a restaurant from the dining out guide, chose
what I want ahead of time and plan the rest of the day around those points.

  3. Here are some pointers I "try" to stick to myself

1.Always start with a broth-based soup and salad...(even if you eat it at home, which may be a
better idea, since you can better control the points)

2.Ask that the bread be removed after others get theirs

    3. Order first, so you won't be tempted to get what others may get

    4. Order grilled items like chicken or fish, or even a small filet is not too bad

    5. Save up daily points for going out and exercise to get more. For example, I know I am going out
tonight, so I have left myself 15 points for dinner..

    6. If you drink, try a white wine spritzer (half wine, half club soda) only 1 point!

    7. try to enjoy the company more than the food

  4. Here are some of mine:

-Ask for a to-go container when you order your food. Put half in that container before you
    start eating.

-Ask for low cal dressings on the side.

-look for salads without dressings or fried food. My favorite is Applebee's Blackened Chicken.

-plan ahead. Check the internet (dotties zone: dottisweightlosszone.comrestaurants.html)
before going to the restaurant. Pick your meal and restaurant to fit within your point range.

-order water or club soda instead of a drink.

-ask for green veggie instead of potatoe, rice or pasta.

-watch out for sauces. Pick marinara over any cream sauce.

-at salad bars, go easy on the shredded cheese, chopped egg, cole slaw and other salads. Stick with
the green veggies. Put your dressing on the side instead of on your salad.

  6. I will share with you what my leader has shared with us over the years about dining out.

    1. When you food is delivered ask for a to go box and put half in the box to take home.
    2. Share the meal with a friend and order and get and extra salad.
    3. Cover half in salt so it is not edible (no temptations there)
    4. Drink a big glass of water and have an apple before you go so you are not over hungry.
    5. Concentrate on the dining partner not the food, enjoy the conversation.
    6. Plan ahead

  8. Last week I went to a Chinese restaurnat with my family for lunch. Took along my week 1 book to
review with the menu and decided on Shrimp Fried Rice. The portion looked HUGE so I ate what looked
like 1 cup worth and took home the rest in a box. That was another 2 cups so I got three meals from
    what is considered one!

    instead of on your salad.

Which made me think of the following one : instead of pouring dressing over the salad, dip your fork
in the dressing before taking salad on your fork: you will have the taste but not the calories.

And a very simple one, which I actually found effectvie but difficult : try to put your fork down
after very bite. By eating slowlier, you get the feeling of satisfaction sooner.

  11. My favorite foods are really point friendly --- boiled lobster (avoid the butter), baked potato,
salad....I can have a meal I really enjoy and keep the points low and it doesn't have to be
    broiled chicken.
