On the footpath @ the front gate (not pavement, pedestrian access past the school, no roadway) I had to jump out of the way as a guy on a bike travelling at 15mph plus(??) hurtled toward me. He had come through the staggered gates at the far and and accelerated full tilt.

Oh, and he did have a helmet on. And he completely ignored my request to slow down. Next time I'll shoulder charge him on the way past.

A stick through the front spokes can have a profound decelerative effect.

The rider may not decelerate quite as fast as the bike! And the helmet may help him to slide further along the pavement. Bill -- Cyclists are always well-balanced.
