  1. Several of you have pointed to your pages with little QuickTime movies that I assume are taken with
a digital camera that has short movie capabilities. I've done this and put them on a page that is
quite useless because the file is so huge. I know how to optimize stills, but I haven't figured out
how to do this with the little movies. I use a Mac running a 10.3 os, Dreamweaver and Photoshop 7.1.
I know this is an inappropriate place to ask, but what I want to do is precisely what I've seen from
    several of you.

I'm not one of the experts you're referring to, but this looks like it might have some potential to
    meet your needs:

    Hope this helps,

I sent a post before that I might or might not have successfully deleted
    - I'd suggested a product that might not have been OS X savvy. At any rate, "Cleaner 6" (I think the
big, more costly brother to "Movie Cleaner" - which had a basic free version, I think) would be a
spendy solution with capabilities far beyond mere compression:

But since you're Mac based and working in Quicktime, I think your problem would be solved just by
    upgrading to Quicktime Pro:

If you have already, then you have everything you need for compression.

If you really wanted to get educated on the concept, here's a book:

Hope this helped more than it hurt! Note that I'm not much of a video practitioner, so there
are probably folks out there that you'll want to hear from as well, especially before laying
    out any cash.

    Thanks, Al

The Cleaner 6 is a whopping 549 dollars. Quicktime Pro I already have. I think I probably need to
have a *learning experience* and actually open a how-to book. That is my last resort. The books
are so stuffed with info that I don't want anywhere near me that I tend to slam them shut after a
timid glimpse. Here's what I tried and failed to do:
personal.psu.eduCinemaFour.html Feel free to close it if it
doesn't open in 90 seconds. It works for me and other Macs, but that's it. The bottom right corner
is me, doing my big 2 beat kick, rapid turn-over, go nowhere very fast, stroke. Kayak doesn't
begin to describe it. Two other squares are devoted to swimming with gills and the like and the
bottom left is the other guy. That's if anything opens at all.

Thanks Ruth - I'll try the link on my Mac tonight when I get home. Stuck with a stinky PC here at
work. Have you checked this out yet? I guess it's the closest thing to what, in Air Force speak,
would be considered "plastic brains" (laminated checklists.)

Be prepared for dark eventuality of having to crack a book, though, just in case :-).

P.S. Although I'm a developer myself, I work in a media production section and can probably put you
in touch with one our analysts that lives and breaths this stuff if it comes down to that.

Perfect! Nice and simple. Big print. No clauses or semicolons. It's the do this OR do that which
overwhelms me. By tomorrow I should have this mastered.

    Thank you enormously.
