There is a way to do a hard reset: turn off and then hold the mode button while pushing the
power button. I

had a problem with my Forerunner that it would not make the initial lock-on to the satellites;
after resetting it locked-on within a few minutes and has been faultless sine.

However, the Power Button doesn't even respond - The whole item is totally locked & frozen!

I've sent an email to Garmin and sent the item back to the shop for a replacement.... hopefully it's
a one-off!
