Yesterday I added sprints to my workout. I did 5 at maximal out put. In fact I found out that my max heart rate went 3 beats above what I thought it was. These were all done in the morning. I was a little tired starting the workout and at one point thought I was going to throw up, actually I felt that way 2 or 3 times. My problem is that I was unable to sleep last night. My heart rate must have been up around 100 bpms all night. I feel terrible this morning.
This used to happen to me alot when I was younger and would work out. It really puts a mental block in my training.
I take a b comlex everyday along with a multi mineral, cal mag, e, alfa lipoic acid, and dmae and omega 3 fatty acids at bedtime. I take the cal mag 3 times a day. The others only once a day.
My diet is good and my health is excellent. I am 44 and have been biking since I was 35, except that I have been off the bike for about 2 years. I've been biking regularly now for a little over 2 months.
My water intake may not have been what it should have been yesterday. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance,
BQ

2LAPActually I think I have. I searched a few resources and have concluded that I am just trying to go too hard too soon. A problem that I have always had. It would seem that overtraining will cause insomnia. Not to mention that my water intake wasn't what it should have been. I'm sure that had something to do with it. I will slow down some and reduce the amount of sprints I do in any given training session and give my body more time to adapt.
I gather from your recent post about HR monitors that my max heart rate from one day to the next can change. If this is incorrect please let me know.
Although I have been biking since I was 35 I never really paid attention to a real training schedule. I was always one to just jump on the bike and go as hard as I could and never really understood why I couldn't progress as a rider. This is why some of my questions may seem elemental to some. This time around I am commited to doing things the right way. Old habits are hard to break, but I will break them!
Thank you for responding to my post.

Actualy your max HR is fairly stable (although you might not reach it if you are tired). Your resting HR will change depending on fatigue, dehydration, etc., etc. Your HR at any given workload on the bike will also change with the environment, fatigue and nutrition/dehydration.
