Quick question...looking at the stats below, am I overdoing it?
Using CrossTrak stats for January 2004: Workouts: 25 Ave. Distance: 47.5km Total Distance: 1190km Ave. Speed: 26.4km/h Total Duration: 45Hrs
If I compare this to last year January (2003) I only did 631km that month. This is in preparation for the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour on 14 March 2004. I'm hoping for a 3hr time for the 110km course. Oh and yeah, I work 8am-5pm, so it's done whenever I can actually get on the bike, like most working people :-)
This week I've only done two very easy spins, planning more a rest week. Heart rate seems low enough still, but the legs are fatigued.
It's about 30% more than what I did for January and I thought I had a pretty solid month, fitting it into work etc.
How many centuries did you do in that 1100km?
Looks like a good preparation for what you want to do in April, a pretty solid base. Probably time to start working on a few things like your sprint or hill climbing. Less miles, more intensity might help your performance and keep you interested.
Going back to CrossTrak again (bless that program), I've taken the long distance ones and pasted them here (those include weekend races). Keep in mind that at least two workouts a week were done on Cardigus trainers specifically for strength etc. and at least one workout a week is a 56km route with two fairly nice 4km climbs in it.
