It escaped from London weeks ago. Although perhaps not too helpful for you, there are four showings
a day all this week at Manchester Filmworks, although that's the only place left in Manchester that
is showing it. Try Googling, or look it up on Yahoo, for example. Brilliant film. Worth travelling
some distance to see it on a cinema screen.

It was only at the Filmworks in the first place, wasn't it? My favourite M/cr cinema - I like what
they've done to the old Thompson printworks.

We tried to see it at East Didsbury on the last day it showed there, but they sold the last seats
before we could get to the front of the queue. We saw it at the Filmworks the following Sunday,
having pre-booked our tickets this time (but probably didn't need to).

A friend and I had a stroll around that area back in the summer, and it was a revelation to me,
looking down from a walkway to the two pubs with the open air diners made it almost continental.

Then we unfortunately chose to eat lunch in the 'Food Hall' of the nearby mall, and had an appalling
meal. We just can't do it like the Americans, can we, thinking back to the choices available in
their malls.

(Not that we would be seen dead in a shopping mall of course).....

I went to Seattle to see a friend and for a new year party this new year just gone. I'd not long
seen "Touching the Void". Did some shopping in REI, the outdoor store, and as I was paying, the
cashier informed us the Joe Simpson was soon due to give a talk at the store, about the film. I
informed him that I had already seen the film, and that it was indeed good and worth seeing; he gave
me a funny look, like I was pulling his leg, I assume because it wasnt due out in the states for a
few weeks. Its nice that for once I got to see a film before them, its one of the things I do in
Seattle, watch films, as my friend is a bit of a 'movie' buff and their rental shops are so good.
Scarecrow in Seattle has just about anything you could ever want to see. The table was turned.

It's also on in York at the moment, which won't help except insofar as the York screening hasn't
appeared in any of the 'official' listings. Worth contacting any 'art house' type cinemas in your
neck of the woods.

It's only on for a week in York and is almost sold out already, so will definitely be back.
Plus it's just won Best Film at the Evening Standard Film Awards so must get a wider
distribution now surely?

The Metro is published by the same lot that do the Evening Standard. Which is the paper that has
just given T-t-V the award.

These are the films it is up against in the BAFTA nominations for The Alexander Korda Award for the
