Am interested in views here on a person diagnosed with CHF and low carb diets. Atkins recommends
extra water intake which I feel could be dangerous. Input please? Thanks

Imho, Atkins would be ill-advised for anyone with a known heart condition.
Truthfully,

I would go further and suggest that there is a great likelihood that the Atkins diet was ill-advised
for Dr. Atkins.

Why would it be ill-advised? Because of the extra water intake? Please elaborate. Thank you.

I'll allow Chung to answer but Atkins is ill advised because it is unnecessary for life long weight
control and eating. And it has a very, very high failure rate over any appreciable period of time.

Would suggest you google past discussions here on SMC.
Use the key words:
(1) Hyperketonemia.
(2) Lipid peroxidation.
Read the referenced comments of Dr. Barry Sears.

No one in a cardiology group can answer this question? Didn't ask for a debate, just wanted an
answer about the excess water and CHF.
