FWIW, Your safer considering something like a pair of Mavic CXP-33 (32 hole) rims.

Got a buddy your size, been riding Ksyrium SSC SLs for about a year with no problem. But why bother...I also suggest a pair of CPX-33s laced to your hub of choice.

I'm 20 lbs. heavier than you. I also ride Ksyrium SSC SL's. 500 miles and so far, so good, but a very slight lateral (1 mm) wobble on the rear. This said, I'm not confident riding them. I feel like I have to be very careful with them.

I also use two other wheel sets: DT Swiss 240's laced with Sapim CX-Rays to Open Pros, and Chorus laced with DT Revolution 14/15's to Open Pros, both 32 hole. With these wheels, I feel like I can ride over anything. I don't feel as though I have to baby them.

I'm having a new set built: Amer. Classic laced with DT new aero to DT Swiss RR1.1's, 28 hole. I hope these will hold up for me, but only time will tell.

For my weight and size (6'😉, my wheel builder would rather put 32 spoke wheels under me. I'll leave you with this - the 32 spoke wheels have remained true.

I am 200lb and ride pretty aggressively over some rough roads

i ride campag protons, if you want to race and can afford it step up to the campag Eurus or Neutrons (aero and climbing wheels)

If you are going to do heaps of training you might want 32 spokes on normal hubs etc cause they are cheaper to repair

I weigh the same (but am rapidly dropping it), and I ride the 16-spoke Shimano R540s. Have not had any problems with these wheels.

I weigh 230 lbs. My new bike came with Mavic Open Pros. After a month of broken spokes, severe alignment issues etc, I bit the bullet and bought a pair of Ksyrium SSC SL's. They are still true after 2500 miles.

I weigh 180 pound. I'm very hard on wheels. Bought a pair of Campag Eurus in November. Rock solid. Remain true after 3 months regular use. No problems at all.

If your looking for a strong light weight weel you should consider the Velomax Orion II's. They are amoung the lightest wheels out there and are very tough. I don't personally own them but a buddy of mine does and he has over 3k miles on them and has never broken a spoke. He's about your size.

I have the Velomax Circut Comps and while they are heavier they are more areo. I have 3k miles on them and have never broken a spoke or even had to true them.
