I used to know this, but have forgotten....
What is the limit on lettuce and celery? I know they are 0 point foods in 1 cup servings, but if I
have 2 cups for lunch AND a cup for dinner, how do I count it? Sorry to be a nuisance.

You're not a nuisance. I just checked WW Online and this is what they list lettuce and celery at.
7 cups lettuce 1/2 point 3 cups celery 1/2 point
You'd probably get pretty sick of lettuce and celery if you were eating it in these amounts. Just
eat whatever amount you want and count it as 0 points.

You count them towards your veggie servings, but they are still zero point foods.
I plugged the numbers into the E-tools site for weight watchers to see what would pop up for various
measurements. This is the amount it finally started registering a point value above zero.
Celery = 3 cups = 1/2 point, then it changed to 4 cups = 1 point Lettuce = 8 cups = 1/2 point, then
it changed to 10.5 cups = 1 point
Hopefully this is what you were looking for and with the question you asked and the amount you are
eating, you would still be at zero points for each meal or even the combined amounts for the meal.

There are tons of ways to count those points. Some of us count everything, veggies included ... I
did in the beginning. Others don't worry about the multiple servings of veggies (I tend to do this
now). Some will add up the total of identical items at the end of the day and figure points based on
that. And one more that I remember hearing mentioned is the *2 hour* rule. Such as your celery ... 2
servings at one meal, figure the additional points. If more than 2 hours have passed and you eat
another serving, then figure it as a new item.
The trick is ... find what works for you, re-evaluate if you find your losses have changed (such as
hitting a plateau).

This reminds me of a question I asked shortly after I started WW.
I was arguing about WW counting raw carrots as 0 points for 1 cup, but you stick them in the
microwave or steamer, and suddenly they're 1 point. (I still think that's silly, and count them as 0
either way.)
Someone eventually jumped into the thread and gave the most sensible answer of all, which was
something like "You didn't get fat eating carrots. Eat them, enjoy them, and count them however
you want."

I'm with you on that. I hate cardio. But you have to find something you like or at least can
tolerate. I like food shopping and weights. So I go shopping but without the trolley 🙂
Seriously have you tried the stationary bike? 30 minutes on a low setting and you can read a chapter
of your favourite book. And it's actually better for you 'cos you expend more calories stabilizing
your body.

Ray, please don't laugh at me for asking, but does a stationary bike benefit
more than just the legs? Cuz, I need to lose ALL OVER.

The biggest weight loss myth is that if you exercise your arms you'll lose fat round your arms etc.
This is simply not true. Unfotunately it isn't possible to spot reduce. When you lose fat it comes
from all over and slowly. Men frequently want to lose tummy fat (I do) The only way to do this is to
lose fat all over and eventually you'll lose it from your tummy as well. So rest assured when you
spend hours on the bike you will be contributing to all over weight loss, and a lot more of course.

I like to use my arms when on a stationary bike or treadmill because that increases my effort and
hopefully improves my results.
Mary
Thanks, Ray. You make a lot of sense. 🙂
