it depends really... the length of steerer tube you need depends on how thick your stack is... if you have a big stem, small stem, whatever. find out what kind of bike the seller took it off of and all that, might give you some idea...

If it's threadless. the steerer length has to equal your headtube length + your HS stack height + your stem height where it clamps the steerer. Does not hurt to have some extra length for spacers if needed. Steerer also has to be correct diameter for your frame.Easy way is measuer what you have. If you don't know what you are doing,buying uased forks is a good way to get hosed.

Measure the height of your headtube, stem, & headset. That will give you a "minimum" steerer tube length to start with. You can add a few mm if you like to have spacers and increase the stack height. It's OK if the fork you want to buy has a steerer tube longer than your current bike's need, you just cut it to the correct length (most shops will do it for <$15). Good luck.

my mate has the same bike and fitted a 2003 zoke Jr T with uncut, unthreaded (NEW)steertube. required 3 or 4 spacers and it worked out sweet. The exr comp you are looking at are only a XC fork a down spec from the Dirtjumpers which came with the stinky. would recomend atleast JR T for a stinky if downhill is your aim. or stick with the DJ's if dirtjumpn/freeriding. A cheaper options would be the new marzoochi drop offs which are a freeride spec. CHECK out EBAY for cheap NEW shocks.
