Replacenent for Brashers?

Gone down-hill? Yes, mine have done that, as well as lots of up-hill!

I don't know about the very latest offerings from Brasher but walking in North Wales on the sharp
slates here shredded my boots in months when I first moved here. The plain leather Goretex-free
Brashers I bought as replacement 5 years ago have stood up to all sorts of horrid abuse without
complaint, discomfort or a single leak. They are super boots - I just wish they wouldn't make me
feel so guilty about the abuse!

The shops have changed which makes they stock. Therefore rubbish what they don't carry. Some shops
and makers have silly ideas about what is a suitable mountain boot, recommending very heavy clomping
things which are far too heavy for most 3-season users.

The most recent pair of Brasher's (bought last year) look identical to the previous pair (about 6
years use before they began to crack in the uppers and soles were getting very thin). They are still
excellent light weight boots if they fit your feet. They fit my partner well, but I prefer the
fractionally stiffer and differently shaped Scarpa Ranger.

So because THEY thought they were not suitable for mountain use they chose not to sell them ?

It's their business, so can retail what they want! If they think brashers aren't worth
stocking, so be it.

No, but it's their decision after all what they stock to make a profit, brashers might not be in

Don't know, but if they don't stock them they are unlikely to recommend them or even have a good
word for them, are they. Shops stock what they make a profit on, and the bigger profit margin the
better, perhaps that's why Snow & Rock no longer stock the British made Berghaus range, from what
I've seen I don't think their quality has changed.

We like our Zamberlans, they are Italian made boots which fit us a treat, when we bought them the
Brashers didn't feel so comfortable on and neither did the Scarpas we tried, but that's OUR feet
not yours.
