  1. What is it that makes the 5200 WSD specific for women?? The reason I ask is I bought a new 2003 5200 and now I think it is the WSD model. The one I have is the black pearl with the nude carbon. The sales guy who showed it to me never mentioned that it was the WSD model. How do I know if it is? Did the WSD only come in the Black Pearl version....I just want to know if I need to go get a new bike or can I ride the WSD model....and will I be laughed off the road..I did a Century up in Philly and no one mentioned anything....All info is greatly appreciated..

If they didn't change the colors from '03 to '04 you have the mens 5200. (The 2004 WSD 5200 is nude carbon). I believe a WSD will have shorter stems, and smaller handle bars.

Trek's website lists "thinner grips, smaller 650c wheels, shorter cranks, and a WSD saddle).

  3. Mine has 700c wheels..I'm thinking it's the men's. The reason I was unsure is because all of the pic's of the 2003 WSD were the same as mine, nude with grey and blue decals.. Thanks for the info.

Alot of people of small stature might ride a WSD just becase of better fit. Just make sure your panty lines don't show.

  5. lol... Thanks for the advice...Are the frames the same? I would think a 52cm WSD would be the same as the 52 mens, or am I wrong? The Trek site says the WSD's have 650c wheels, Mine has 700's. Did the 2003 mens 5200 come in the Black Pearl or was it just the WSD? I'll be pretty upset if they sold me a WSD without mentioning it. Reason I bought it is because I had a 2001 5200 54cm that was just a bit too big for my 5'7" frame. Thanks again for the info...Dave

  6. Easiest way is to check the gap between the rear wheel and the seat tube. if it's very close, it's a men's frame but if it's got quite a gap it's for a girl.

  7. Thanks Mampara..

Some of the WSD use 650 wheels, the bigger sizes don't. There is no 52cm in a WSD.sizes run 47,51,54,56. The 2003 WSD was Black Pearl, mens was also available in Black Pearl, and USPS team bule/silver.

  9. Cool,
Mine must be the men's. It's a 52cm and came with the 700c wheels and the San Marco Era-Luxe saddle. I read that the WSD came with a different saddle..I just want to make sure I'm not riding a chick's bike (not that there's anything wrong with them...no offense girls..but you know what I mean).. Thanks to all for the info..
    Dave
