Well at least you've got time to try to persuade someone to tape it for you.

The only thing worth seeing was the mountain scenery, but that was very limited.

Agreed. Personally I think they should've cut the rope sooner.

According to The Grauniad it works but they don't know how ? (But they could read the book and
    find out :-).

If anyone watches it I wouldn't mind a precis.

I've some truly awful rubbish but this is utterly unbelieveable. I actually wasted tape and
    eletricity recording this bull***?

Apart from nitroglycerin thats more powerful than semtex (wrong - check the detonation speeds) that
doesn't go off when you drip it on the floor (it should) is the wrong colour (should be clear) what
the hell is it doing in some tinpot frontier post anyway.

It falls for 20 seconds (ie 2 kilometers) and produces a blast wave that accelerates faster then the
    Hiroshima bomb?

I don't mind a little disbelief but I object to most of the laws of commonsense being rewritten...

Well the first 37 minutes was annyoingly wasted investigating the misleading notion that you can eat
"as many calories as you want" before finally reaching the revelation that people on the Atkins diet
simply don't want to eat a lot of calories, i.e. the appetite is reduced. If they'd actually
bothered to read the book in the first place they'd have noticed that it specifically points this
out. It also points out that you should eat to satisfy your hunger but *not* to overeat. It even
sets limits on things like daily cheese consumption, so the image of the fat guy chewing on the
large chunk of cheese that they showed repeatedly was particularly misleading.

Anyway, the bottom line is that eating lots of fat is not the reason why the Atkins diet works,
instead it works because of eating lots of protein. Apparently it's the protein that suppresses the
    appetite, not the fat.

As I originally said, the Atkins diet is not a "high-fat" diet, it's a "low-carb" diet. People tend
to focus on the relatively high amount of fat, but there's a lot of protein too, and that's why
Atkins works. If you concentrate on the healthy fats like olive oil and fish oils, and limit the
saturated stuff then you'll have a healthier version of the diet.

So eat plenty of non-sat meat and fish to fill you up and suppress your appetite.

Paul, A word of caution to the older people, and or beer drinkers (I susoect there may be a few of
them in this group) If your seriously thinking of going on the Atkin diet have a liver function test
before doing so. If your liver is not in tip top condition it would be inadvisable to go on this
diet as as it could well harm this vital organ. People that may well be susceptable should at least
consult their GP. I'm on a low protein diet and if you exersize regularly you can also loose weight
on this diet especially if you cut out beer. For some people this is not an option 🙂) Richard.
