  1. Whats the point of interval training if its just going to leave you gasping for air after a few minutes of all-out effort, only to have you recover just in time to do it all again, without any actual improvement in overall cycling endurance.

    Are we just wasting our time with these intense, short bursts of exercise, or is there actually some science behind the intervals thats supposed to translate to real-world endurance gains.

    I see all these riders out on the road, doing their interval workouts, and Im just not convinced that its doing anything for them in the long run.

    Can someone explain to me how interval training is supposed to improve cycling endurance, and what kind of intervals are actually effective for this goal.

    Is it just a matter of pushing yourself to the limit, or is there a specific type of interval thats more effective for building endurance.

    And what about the role of recovery in all of this - are we just supposed to be recovering from our interval workouts, only to go out and do it all again the next day.
