Is it really that surprising that Pogačar is able to dominate the peloton when hes basically being coddled by his team and given an absurd amount of time off the bike to recover and adapt to Zone 2, meanwhile the rest of us mere mortals are out here grinding away day in and day out just to try and scrap together a decent Strava segment. I mean, seriously, how much time is he actually spending off the bike, and what exactly is he doing during that time thats allowing him to come back stronger and faster every single year. Is he just sitting around twiddling his thumbs waiting for his legs to magically adapt to the demands of professional cycling, or is there some secret sauce that hes not telling us about. And dont even get me started on the idea that hes somehow unique in his ability to adapt to Zone 2, like hes some kind of cycling savant who can just intuitively sense when he needs to take a break and when he needs to push himself to the limit. Give me a break.
Can anyone actually provide some concrete information on how Pogačars time off the bike is structured, or are we just supposed to take his teams vague assurances that hes working hard and focusing on recovery at face value. And what exactly does Zone 2 adaptation even mean, anyway. Is that just code for Im taking a three-week vacation in the Mediterranean to recharge my batteries before the next big race? Because if so, sign me up.
