Anyone know if this pub is still open? I've phoned the number listed in the phone book and on their web site punchbowl.red-film.co.ukpunchbowl.red-film.co.ukOpen ↗ but get a message 'sorry this number is not available'. And I've emailed them but no reply.
A group of 20 of us is supposed to be going there on Sunday and it would be nice not to have a wasted journey!

Certainly open last October, not been up there since and the number on the web site is the same as in the new yellow pages I had delivered a few days ago.
I'd be very surprised if it has closed, always seems a popular spot. -- Dennis Foster

Hi Simon,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. A resident of Low Row has informed me today that the Punch Bowl Inn closed recently when the lease expired. Apparently the new lease was too expensive to renew.

What a shame! I spent a couple of nights there two years ago after walking over from West Burton. Reeth wasn't what I wanted, and PBI was excellent--good ale, decent food, excellent breakfasts, fabulous pub dogs, and it even offered two days of sunny weather for walking in the neighborhood. You can't beat that! Terrible they have closed.

According to today's Darlington & Stockton Times it will reopen as soon as new tenants are found. The article goes on to say that the owner accepts that there must be a pub on the site but the building is too large and they are looking to convert part of it to residential use. -- Dennis Foster

I was there in May and the place was full--throughwalkers on the c-2-c, more casual walkers like me (I was moseying along from Settle to Richmond in easy stages), families, etc. I hope it reopens soon....> --
