Are all the Zwift enthusiasts out there actually delusional enough to believe that the metrics provided are truly representative of real-world cycling performance, or is this just a collective facade to shield ourselves from the crushing reality that our virtual Strava segments mean absolutely nothing when were gasping for air on a real climb?
Seriously though, whats the most effective way to translate Zwifts key performance metrics, like watts per kilogram, normalized power, and Training Stress Score, into actual on-road racing performance? Is it really a matter of simply adjusting our Zwift settings to match our outdoor bike and rider profiles, or are there other crucial factors to consider when trying to simulate the demands of a real-world event?
And lets not forget about the elephant in the room - how do we account for the glaring lack of technical skills required on Zwift compared to the real world, where riders need to actually know how to corner, brake, and navigate irregular road surfaces, not to mention deal with unpredictable weather and mechanical issues? Are we inadvertently creating a generation of cyclists who are incredibly fit but utterly clueless when it comes to actual bike-handling skills?
