Waterproof Socks

Never heard of the Army Goretex socks, Jim. Imagine they are like Seals though.

I've had red seals for many years now, supposed to wear comfortable socks next to the skin of a
thickness allowing for the seals, then the seals and the boot. I've also found I have less blister
problems with this set up, kind of like wearing thin / thick sock combo at times.

With numerous experiences with seals, I have found that it is almost impossible to keep water out
in wet conditions for any time longer that a day or so, ever with good fitting gaiters and long
Goretex pants.

I wear seals more now after a creek or river crossing.
Ie. Either cross river / creek with or without socks on (boots almost always stay on), then on the
other side put new or removed dry socks back on, seals, and boots. Walking with dry feet is much
more comfortable, especially in cold conditions, and the boots get pumped dry fairly quick.

Did you have red or green seals ? I'm not sure what the difference was, but my reds dry
quite quickly.

They're black with a blue cuff!

I don't think my Sealskins are like yours. Mine are like two pairs of socks with a lining between -
all integral. That's why they take ages to dry - you have to dry the outside, then turn them inside
out to dry the inside. I've never seen red or green seals!

Ok, Jim. Definitely not the same product. I did a quick Google search and found some of the socks
you have, but nothing on the Red or Green Seals. I would think that integral like you describe would
not be functional, especially as you describe with the drying problem. The Red or Green Seals are
like a goretex jacket material, and do work well as I described for water crossings mostly. I
suppose they are more like Goertex integral lined boots available nowadays.

I think this must be a new model, sounds fine. A coolmax liner would add to the comfort and still
dry quickly.
