  1. Check it out. Bunny suits and face masks in an industrial garage. I'm impressed. Just the same I
    need wheels of that design. It beats Soft-ride or FS any day. Look at those spiral spokes!

    Why, that's not a bicycle! It's a hexacycle! It's obviously martian, and it's spiral spokes have
    exerted their mind control on you to make you THINK it's a bike. You should switch to Opera, which
    has the option to turn off both Javascript and Mind Control Script.

    It's coming right for us! Shoot it!

    Neat wheels. But I would be afraid to ask the price. Anything with NASA on it is going to cost
    big bucks. I would guess you take the most expensive wheels ever and then add a couple of zeros
    on the end.

    They're only planning for a lifespan of 100 meters, so they're probably not too worried about
    fatigue life. It's certainly Type I anodizing, any way.

    I was a little surprised to read there that only two engineers at NASA are cognizant. Wonder how the
    rest got their degrees?

  14. I'm not an engineer, but that wheel design looks incredibly ill-thought out to me if I understood
    the description correctly. Thin machined "spokes" that are only on one end of a wide wheel, loaded
    with hundreds of pounds? Those things might not make it around the block before breaking! Those
    "spokes" are going to have to control not only vertical loads but also oblique loads twisting them
    out of plane. It's like a bicycle wheel with only one set of spokes- but worse!

  16. almost all modern car wheels and a lot of modern motorcycle rear wheels use a similar offset design.
    yes, there is twisting out of plane, but it's a matter of how bad it is relative to load and the
    other benefits this design affords.

    in practice, it's really not a problem.
