OS Grid Reference coversion to Lat/Long

There used to be a bit of software you could download from the Ordnance Survey website to do this.
There's also a paper on how to do it which gives the equations you could bung into a spreadsheet.

When the map pops up the scale is shown beneath the map and two rows down are the co-ordinates
including WGS-84 Lat & Long

[beware that when I just tried it with SE000000 it gave the projection co-ordinates as 400050,
400050 which I then had to reset to get the actual grid line intersection - should please Roger!]

Do you use OziExplorer or anything like that? If you enter a grid ref or just set a waypoint by
clicking on the map, if you then double click the waypoint it will open up a window with a button to
open another window for the position details, which it gives in OS grid and lat/long.

I daresay GPS Utility would convert between the two.

I've got an Excel file which I D/L'd from I can't remember where which does conversion. Email me if
you want it - only 60k but this isn't a binary NG

Sounds like you are using the 'free' version of OZIExplorer ..... in which case upgrade, it's worth
it. If not, change to OZI, it does all these conversions automatically.

There is a free utility that does this that you can download from the OS web-site, it's called 'Grid
InQuest'. It can do batch conversions, too.

There is a free utility that does this that you can download from the OS web-site, it's called
'Grid InQuest'. It can do batch conversions, too.

On my web site there is a set of excel spreadsheet macros to do conversions. Accuracy about 1 metre.
