there is a good range of locations though I did have to inform them of some errors, ie they had a Cwydian Range and a Ciwidian range also the Brecon Beacons and the Brecknock Mountains. These errors were changed within minutes after emailing them. There may also be errors with some of the Scottish mountain ranges, perhaps some one with a better knowledge than myself of the Scottish hills can email Metcheck with any errors.
What a choice ! to name a few Scottish hills Buachaille Etive Mor & Buachaille Etive Beag .....what precision
Cairngorm & Grampian Mountains......now vagueness Coolin Hills & Cuillin Mountains .........are they taking the [censored] Beinn a Bheithir & Ben Vair........they are taking the [censored]!
And as for the forecast, Today they were forecasting 100% cloud for glencoe, the web cams showed unbroken blue skies! How can they get it so wrong on a day when it was so easy to predict!

Very interesting. Surprisingly detailed. Impossibly so I reckon. Given that they often can't forecast correctly whether it will rain or not, forecasting how many millimetres of rain will fall on a specific mountain range within a three hour period seems amazingly ambitious. 9% of mist and 27% of cloud? Rain to the millimetre, windspeed to the mile and temperature to a tenth of a degree?
Full marks for trying, but I don't see how they could possibly be that accurate. Might be interesting to print one of these out for a weekend then go camping in the target area and see how close it is.

I couldn't persuade it to give me a mountain forecast but the Tuesday one for Wednesday in Cumbria was a pretty good fit unlike the lazy disregard for the actuality put out by The BBC at 5 am this morning (Wednesday) which pretended that by 6 am the rain belt would be East of the A1 (or thereabouts) when the trailing edge was really the other side of the Pennines.
I wouldn't argue with the amounts of rain in the morning sessions (0.4 mm) or the cloud cover which was forecast from 100% down to 9% during the period I was there. There was a stiff breeze on the tops and for all I know that could easily be the forecast 12/13 mph.

Glad to hear it. A similar forecast (produced by a different site) was way off for the exp 14 weekend though.
I'm certainly not complaining about attempts at accurate forecasting like this. When forecasters do get it wrong it's often a matter of timing, so taking a printout with you on a weekend could help to keep you synchronised with the weather even if it does come in early or late.
Looks impressive, doesn't it. It's a shame they don't predict cloudbase, which is one of the strongpoints of the Lakes Weatherline. Perhaps the mist %ge is an indicator, but less useful than an altitude figure.
