I went to Aldi's in Kingsbury (Greater London) hoping to get a pair of the trousers previously mentioned in ths NG. I was dissapointed to just find a pile of assorted clothing, with just 2 pairs of trousers XL and S. I need L! The clothes were just piled up, wrapped and unwrapped, kids stuff, underwear, gloves etc. - all muddled up like in a jumble sale! There was no-one to provide any information regarding items apparently out of stock and it was difficult to find the cost of the item - there were just notices high up and customers wandering around looking confused. I've just visited Aldi's web site to have a gripe about it, but there's no contact email. I would have though that an organisation of German origin would have been more efficient. It's a pretty poor site anyway! In all, it was a waste of a journey. Have others had a similar experience?

Sounds like a standard Aldi! Most know what it's like before they go, after all, you get what you pay for, so they aren't disappointed. If you aren't there at 8.30 the day a decent offer comes out, it's usually gone. I'm afraid you have to go to a proper shop with proper prices if you want service :o)

The trick with these offers is to get there as soon as the shop opens on the first day of the offer. They do a handy e-mail notification service so you can be forewarned. It starts off wrapped, but people unwrap stuff, probably to try it on, then just leave it lying around like that. A bit cheeky really. As others have said, get there early on Thursday mornings.

It is best to get there as soon as the shop opens. I quite like Aldis, you get to have a good rummage, although there are now signs up saying not to open packaging? Nothing like a good rummage, is there? :-)
Luckily I got the last pair of those trousers in a large size, only one XL pair left in the shop - I wasn't really hopefully, but I had been visiting a shop next door, so I thought I may as well pop in.
The stuff from Crane Sports (who makes the trousers) seem to be reasonably good quality for the price

They may get the outdoor gear in again, but it could be a while before they have it back in. They seem to rotate their "specials" according to the season

But they do have similar items coming round every year. My everyday winter coat is on of their "Ski Jackets" and they will probably get similar in before the end of the year. [censored] tents and ok, for basic summer camping sleeping bags have been in store several years in a row. Thermal undies come around a few times, and cycling/running gear also in the spring/summer/autumn.
The microflece top (Fluorescent yellow/Blue and the matching Coolmax (tm) top are ace. The "Walking" trainers are an OK pair of trainers for everyday use, not sure I'd take them out on the hills.
As others have said, you do need to get there on the thursday, preferably early to get stuff, as they only have a few of each size.
