Is it really that hard to understand that ERG mode is not a magic pill that instantly makes you a better cyclist, and that blindly following a structured training plan without actually understanding what youre doing is a recipe for disaster?
Ive seen countless posts from people who claim to be using ERG mode for structured training, but when you ask them to explain what theyre actually doing, its clear they have no idea. Theyre just mashing buttons and hoping for the best.
So, lets get down to business. For those of you who claim to be using ERG mode effectively, can you please explain how youre actually using it? What specific workouts are you doing, and how are you tailoring them to your individual needs and goals?
And please, spare me the generic Im doing a 4DP test and then following a training plan nonsense. I want to know the specifics. What are your FTP numbers, and how often are you testing them? What kind of workouts are you doing to target your weaknesses, and how are you measuring progress?
And for those of you who are just starting out with ERG mode, dont even get me started. Have you even bothered to read the manual, or are you just winging it and hoping for the best?
Lets have a real discussion about how to use ERG mode effectively, rather than just regurgitating the same old generic advice. Whos actually using ERG mode to achieve real results, and how are they doing it?
