What is it about Double-threshold intervals that makes so many of you think youre doing them correctly, yet youre actually just pretending to be exhausted after one measly threshold effort, only to wimp out on the second one. Two consecutive threshold efforts, thats the definition, not two consecutive efforts where you pretend to be at threshold for one and then magically find an extra gear for the second one.
If youre doing Double-threshold intervals and not spending the next 24 hours questioning every life choice youve ever made, are you even doing them right? Or are you just doing kind of hard intervals with a fancy name?
Ive seen so many of you post your Double-threshold interval workouts, only to have them dissected and destroyed by actual cyclists who know what theyre talking about. So heres the question: whats the actual point of even calling them Double-threshold intervals if youre not going to do them correctly? Is it just so you can sound cool on Strava?
If youre going to do Double-threshold intervals, dont you think you should at least have a basic understanding of what a threshold effort actually feels like? Or are we just going to keep pretending that threshold is just a buzzword that means hard, but not too hard?
And while were at it, can someone please explain to me why so many of you think that doing one or two Double-threshold intervals per week is going to magically transform you into a cycling god? Newsflash: its not the intervals themselves, its the consistency and dedication to actually doing the work.
So, Ill ask again: whats the point of calling it a Double-threshold interval if youre not going to put in the actual effort? Is it just a matter of semantics, or are you actually trying to achieve something with these workouts?
